West Runton is a small cliff top village located on the North Norfolk Coast, just two miles from the busier seaside resort of Sheringham.
 
West Runton has a sandy beach with a ridge of high pebbles and is famous for the discovery of the remains of a woolly mammoth in one of its cliffs some years ago. There are toilets and a cafe right down by the beach and a large car park. To find the beach drive down the road right next to the village inn.

The village has a good supermarket, a pub, cafe and a number of restaurants. There is also a small railway station that runs a service between Sheringham and Norwich via Wroxham, which is within the Norfolk Broads National Park.

Golf is available at The Links Hotel and Country Club.

The rock pools are worth exploring at low tide, but be sure to replace upturned stones and rocks to ensure the inhabitants are not evicted! This is one of the few beaches on the North Norfolk coast where you can explore rock-pools, so its a great place to take the kids. In the distance you can see Cromer pier with its end of Pier Show.

This stretch of beach provides a rich hunting ground for fossil collectors with fossilized sea urchins to be found in the flints on the beach. When the tide is fully in the beach disappears and waves lap the bottom of the cliffs.
