Sandy beach with a ridge of high pebbles, famous for the discovery of the woolly mammoth some years ago. There are toilets and a cafe right down by the beach and a large car park. To find the beach drive down the road right next to the pub. The village has a good supermarket, several small stores and a pub, it also has a few reasonably priced restaurants.

The rock pools are worth exploring at low tide, but be sure to replace upturned stones and rocks to ensure the inhabitants are not evicted! This is one of the few beaches on the North Norfolk coast where you can explore rock-pools, so its a great place to take the kids. In the distance you can see Cromer pier.

This stretch of beach provides a rich hunting ground for fossil collectors with fossilized sea urchins to be found in the flints on the beach. When the tide is fully in the beach disappears and waves lap the bottom of the cliffs.  Picture (c) by John Ashley Photography
