Horsey Mere is a site of Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) covering an area of over a 100 acres - acquired by the National Trust. 
Horsey Windpump (also owned by National Trust) a four storey drainage pump overlooks the mere and is open from April to September.
  
There is a seasonal store and refreshment place.

The mere is a popular place for migrating birds given its close proximity to the sea.
