Over
the last few months we have received a couple of emails from people
accusing us ofsending them an email that contains a virus. This is due to the latest batch of evil virus's that are doing the rounds, so we understand why they might think this, but we can assure you and them that we have not sent out any emails that contain a virus. We update our virus detection every day before we send out any
emails. If you are new to email, you may not be aware that the senders
email address is not authenticated by most email systems, this is
why SPAM email is so hard to police, when you send an email you can set
the reply address to anything you like. If you don't believe us try
changing your reply address and sending an email to yourself - Shocking
isn't it. Recently there have a been a number of new virus's that propagate by sending emails out at random to everybody in the infected computers address book, and to complicate matters they are generating a random "sent from" email address's, so that people receiving them think they are from another source. To make things worse, most home users don't know they are infected so they keep on doing it, they may send out hundreds of emails with an email address's apparently from a lot of organisations of a similar class. For example - if the infected computer is owned by a somebody who has an interest in playing golf, you might get a a lot of emails from lots of golf clubs you have never heard off. So even if the reply address is ???@norfolkcoast.co.uk it does NOT mean we sent IT. We have received emails apparently from ourselves containing a virus,
and from many other well known organisations. For more information on what a specific virus does or to take take a look at the latest threats Click Here |
