Waxham has lovely golden secluded beaches and a restored historic 16th century barn. The barn was constructed using bits of 14th and 15th century monasteries that the owners of Waxham Hall (Woodhouse) had bought after Henry VIII closed them down.  At 176ft the barn is the longest thatched barn in Norfolk and now fully restored is open to the public.  An area of unspoilt natural beauty suitable for walking, cycling, bird watching and fishing.

At Sutton there is Britain's tallest windmill, built in 1789 with nine storeys.  Its grinding machinery and sails have been rescued and restored. The Broads Museum, next to the mill, has a collection of farm and trade tools and exhibits of hedging, thatching, woodworking and other local crafts.
