Set deep within the Norfolk Broads is the rambling village of Neatishead. The Norfolk Broads are right on you doorstep with all the enjoyments of boating and fishing activities. They are a natural spectacle of interconnected waterways and lakes that have been a popular destination since the Victorians "discovered" the pleasures of sailing their waterways in the late 19th century.

Barton Broad at Neatishead is owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, a haven for both wildlife and holiday makers. There is a lovely board walk that leads out to a viewing platform and the open waters of Barton Broad with parking available for those with disabilities at Heron's Carr. The boardwalk is easily accessible for wheelchair users. The other car park is some distance from the Broad, but on a dry day its an enjoyable walk through rolling countryside.

The Broads Authority run regular boat trips out to Barton Broad using their solar powered boat aptly named "Ra" after the Egyptian sun God. This solar powered boat takes up to 12 people including wheelchair users on a 1¼ hour trip round the Broad - from Gay's Staithe at Neatishead. Dates include April, May, October weekends, bank holidays and local half term and June to September daily trips Tel 01603 782281 to book. You can expect to see plenty of wildlife both resident and visiting.

There are many varieties of boat trips or boats that you can hire yourself for an extensive range of boats from rowing boats to cruisers then visit the nearby larger town of Wroxham under 2 miles away. Other nearby water activities trip our on The Mississippi River Boat a double decker paddle steamer which is based at nearby Horning.
