Martham is a large attractive village with its houses encircling a village green with many of the homes being thatched with Norfolk reed. On the horizon in the distance can be seen white wind turbines slowly turning.  The village has a number of inn and a local store.

The nearby popular Norfolk Broads, offers boating, beautiful scenery and wildlife. Fifteen miles away is Norwich with its Castle and Cathedral and comprehensive shopping mall including the famous open air market.  For those looking for a visit to the seaside then the charming seaside village of Winterton-on-Sea is under three miles away, or for a livelier resort then try Great Yarmouth with its bright lights, fun-fare and shows.

Christopher met Alice again and neither of them recognised the other. Christopher took her as his mistress and then married her. Later Alice identified her son by a mole on his body and they realised what they had done. The inscription goes along these lines: Here Lies the body of Christopher Burraway, who departed this life 18 day of October, 1730 aged 59 years And their Lies Alice, who by her life was my sister, my mistress, my mother, and my wife. Died February 12, 1729 aged 76 years.
