The coastal village of Salthouse is located on the North Norfolk Coast on the A149 coastal road.  It is a historic picturesque village well paced for exploring the many delights that this stretch of the Norfolk Coast has to offer.

The beach is mainly pebble and shingle, so no beach to speak of, but Salthouse is a super place for bird watching.

The Norfolk Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve at Cley, has the reputation as a premier birdwatching site is on your doorstep with an environmentally friendly visitor centre which incorporates an observation area including a remote controllable wildlife camera.  The centre also has a cafe.

The magnificent church of Salthouse holds regular art exhibitions and there is a pub with a large front garden that looks directly over the saltmarsh, where if you are lucky, you can enjoy a pint while watching the marsh harriers soar above.

There is a small village shop and post office .adjacent to the village green and a local cottage sells fish and chips.

For other eateries there is Cookies Crab Shop of Salthouse, that has been selling quality shellfish for over three generations.  They also offer platters, salads, sandwiches plus hot and cold drinks.  Either take away, eaten inside or eaten in their garden that overlooks the salt marshes (BYO beer or wine to enjoy with your meal). They are open everyday of the year except Christmas day and we would recommend booking a table because of their popularity.
