Church - Church Salle St. Peter and St. Paul
Salle – St. Peter and St. Paul

Standing in splendid isolation with only the raucous cries of crows for company, who emerge from the tower like a plume of smoke.

The huge church tower can be seen from miles around. Built mainly by the Boleyns, Foutaine and Brigg families.

A nice example of a Lych Gate.

The tower stands 111ft tall and was built between 1422 and 1461, with the church being finally completed in 1500. Over the west door, the third from the right, is the coat of arms of Henry V when he was the Prince of Wales. For Norfolk or Suffolk Parks and Gardens - Click the What to do Link.

Inside is a splendid seven sacrament font which still shows traces of original colour.
A floor brass to successful sheep owners Thomas and Katrina Roos, and their eight sons and four daughters is worth noting and another brass in the nave, for Geoffrey and Alice Boleyn (1440). There is also a  Cadaver Brass of  a naked man. One John Brigge who died in 1454.

Lots of angels, with the nave roof having them at all the intersections together with a three decker pulpit.

It has been rumoured that Anne Boleyn  is said to be buried at this church, though her heart was said to have been discovered in 1836 in the south wall of the church of Elvedon Park, near Thetford.
