Built in 1675 by a Matthew Halcot just before his death. ![]() On the middle pillar on the south side at about eye level is ‘The Litcham Cryptogram’ scratched into the stonework by one Wyke Bamburgh. It is said to be a prayer carved by him when he was on a pilgrimage to Little Walsingham. It says ‘Save (my soul) Jesus Mary and Joseph – Wyke Bamburg’.. Obviously one of the earlier signs of graffiti. |
