Cawston - St. Agnes
Erected at the end of the 14th century a truly big Perpendicular decorated Church, that dwarfs the small village of Cawston. The tower stands at 120 feet.
A deeply moulded doorway with a wodehouse or wild man and a dragon.

The crest of De La Pole family was the head of a wild man.  The De Pole's were the Earls of Suffolk who largely rebuilt this magnificent church and its mighty tower in the early 15th century.

A truly beautiful hammerbeam roof with standing angels with outstretched wings.

More angels line the cornice and the apex.

Poppyheaded benches with one dated from 1706.
Misericords seats in the Chancel.


The 15th century screen depicts 20 saints and is said to have been painted by Flemish artists.
