Just one and a half miles from the north east coast of Norfolk Alan Gray and Graham Robeson have created the wonderful Old Vicarage Garden.

Work began on the existing garden in 1988, the house which was built in 1913 (which is not open to the public) was originally purchased by Alan and Graham back in 1973. After restoring the house they then turned their attention to the gardens. Over the years they have created a truly wonderful attraction with a series of different types of gardens contained within the grounds.

There is a Mediterranean garden planted with a wide variety of plants that thrive on hot well drained conditions; a Dutch box garden; a nursery garden, where you can purchase plants that you have seen in the garden including many unusual exotic plants not often seen in other nurseries; a North Garden which is a sub-tropical area with magnolias, bamboos and tree ferns; a Californian Border which features a large variety of different species from California and other arid regions; a Sunken Garden which was designed to form a sheltered section of garden where smaller more precious plants can be grown; a Tropical Border which is bedded out every year and also contains permanent features such as Phormium tenax and Arundo donax; a Long Border, whose main season is from June until October; a Walled Garden which has been planted with old fashioned shrub roses; a Meadow Garden with its spectacular summer display; and finally a Pond garden.
