Introduction |
Wells-next-the-Sea is a coastal town of narrow streets and flint cottages. Yards and lanes run down to its small quaint busy port where working whelk and shrimp boats can still be seen. Great place for adults and children alike with plenty to occupy everyone with wide sandy beaches, waterslain marshes and good opportunities for sailing. The main shopping area of the town is contained within Staithe Street, a mostly pedestrianised walkway that runs through the centre of this attractive town flanked by Victorian and Edwardian shop frontages. There is a hotel and several restaurants and pubs all offering good food and lets not forget the great fish and chips. Summer months see the shell fish stalls and al fresco dining down on the harbour wall. The town also has an intimate local theatre located in the Maltings Complex in Staithe Street. The North Norfolk coast has excellent beaches, stately homes and is renowned for its bird watching opportunities. Something for everyone. |
