Lots to See - Lots to Do

Wells next the Sea is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has a wide sandy beach dotted with colourful beach huts backed by sand-dunes and a wood full of tall Corsican pine trees. These woods are riddled with foot paths and clearings, a perfect place for gentle roaming and a spot of bird spotting.

There are two steam railways associated with Wells next the Sea, a small line runs from the quay out to the beach or you can catch the Norfolk Hero that runs on a narrow gauge railway line all the way to historic Little Walsingham.

The Wells Carnival takes place during the summer on land and the Wells Regatta is equally popular with the boating community.

The Norfolk coast is famous for its marshes, its wild-life and particularly its birds. Close to some of these marshes the cottage is perfectly situated for ornithologists. Nearby are the well-known bird sanctuaries of Cley-next-the-Sea, Scolt Head Island, Blakeney Point with its tern and seal colonies and the RSPB Reserve at Titchwell.

From the cottage it is an easy walk out on to the marshes where you can roam for miles in either direction, including the long distance Norfolk Coastal Path.

To the south-east some 29 miles is the historic city of Norwich or medieval Kings Lynn to the south-west at 22 miles.
